Maverick Instant Read & Wireless BBQ Thermometers
Hey Friends, I want to share with you my thoughts on Maverick’s Instant Read & Wireless BBQ Thermometers. I have only had these a few days and only done one large piece of meat with the Barbecue Set. But, here is what I have learned.

Bacon Stuffed Tenderloin
I have been going around sticking my Instant Read Thermometer in anything I could find to check the temp reading. Hot or Cold, I didn’t care, including Patti’s hot tea. Now, I have fired up the BBQ a few times and have put it to the test there also.
My finding: the Maverick Instant Read Thermometer is “Spot On”. I have used it at home, and my cooks at Craft Brewery and the Farmer’s Markets where we cook. It takes all the guess work out of my cooking and helps get it just right. Hugely important.

I have only had the opportunity to use this once so far. Patti has already gotten me another big piece of meat for the grill. I really like the idea behind the BBQ Thermometers, but have had “a bad taste in my mouth” from a few others that we have tried. The problem I have had was the leads would melt where they come through the BBQ lid. To be fair though, I don’t know if it is due to my grill design or cheap leads. The Maverick leads are a wire weave that can take the heat up to 716 degrees F. So, I won’t be ordering replacements leads anymore. (I threw the two other units I had in the trash.)
Besides, having a wireless remote receiver on this set has another feature I really like. Which is a second probe the monitors your BBQ grate temperature. This allows me see what my grill grate is doing and helps identify any hot spots on my grill. We cook on Royall Wood Pellet Grill/Smokers and my grill and I are very close, but it is fun to see readout of what you “Think” you already know.

All that said we really like our Maverick Thermometers, have enjoyed using them and look forward to trying to wear them out. I think anyone who grills, bbq’s or smokes would also enjoy these. They would make great gifts that would actually be used instead of being in the all too famous BBQ tool drawer!
